They are the mobile computer terminals in the cars. aka MDT .
The officers can run lien checks on people, fill out reports, talk to other officers on them, pull up records, dispatch calls, ect. When a car is dispatched to a call the call is on the screen. There are buttons they can press such as in-route, on-sence, in-service and such. Some officers use it all the time talking very little on radio. Important calls always go over both MDT and radios.
