All of the Alpha Units that begin with the 9 designator are Ambulances that are 12 hour units.They are usually assigned to sit point in various parts of the county and tend to get shifted around alot depending on call volume.The main goal in putting these units on the road was to take some of the lower priority calls(hospital nursing home transfers ect.) leaving the 24 hours units (1xx) available to respond to more serious emergencies.
