Well, as I see it, you made 2 mistakes that got you in that situation
#1 Running to check out the call-NEVER but NEVER go running to the scene of something like that, it can do nothing but get you in trouble. Obviously, someone saw you lurking around and assumed you were involved in something. That's why the cop showed up at your house. You are lucky it wasn't something involving guns, you could have been shot...
#2 Your attitude with the cop, Even though it may have been embarrassing, you should have just admitted the truth, he may have given you a dressing down for going to a crime scene and a stern warning. By refusing to answer his questions, he now thinks you know something and just arent' talking. You are now on his list and like a previous poster said, he will probably find something to hound you about whenever he sees your car around. You may STILL get your scanner confiscated if he finds you with it later on in your car, even if you aren't doing anything. I recommend getting a different car and staying away from anymore crime scenes if you want to keep your scanner and stay out of jail.
