I wasn't planning to post here being a duplicate thread but THIS has come up once again:
"UHF and VHF have been like CB for a long time."
Comments like this including mine are often misconstrued to infer that the bands below 10M are populated with lids (rogue operators) and some have taken offense. I can't speak for RagnarD but to clarify the position of myself and others that refer to "2M CB" we are NOT saying these bands in any way compare to what 11M CB has become! What we mean is it is laid back, informal, local and regional chit-chat much like what CB USED to be and what it SHOULD be. I go back a long way and remember the days when CB was great and it was a pleasure to operate informally as opposed to the more formally structured operation on the HF Amateur bands.
Unfortunately negative remarks and outright criticism of the reference seem to come from the new kids on the block who have no idea of what CB was like in the old days, I forgive them for their ignorance. I sincerely hope this enlightenment helps, the cure for ignorance is knowledge and I hope you know better now.
