I ran into the same problem, what i did to fix it was on the top bar where it says BCD996T clikc on that and the drop down bar appears, n the bottom of that is a phrase saying something like "S232 comm " or similiar, click on that and the comm port you need to clik on will be highlighted, it worked for me, good luck , its a great software and system to use once you get the hang of it
