You and I go back aways and I know you have good intentions with this thread but this will end up like every other verses thread: the Uniden buffs are gonna say their radio is better while the GRE fanboys are gonna say their radios are better. It's the old Coke vs. Pepsi debate. Having used both (but currently owning a 396xt for full disclosure) I prefer the Uniden 396xt. It works great on VIPER (I believe you are still here in NC) and does great on local VHF/UHF. Radio size is also a big part of my decision as I need something small and compact. Now: I think GRE makes great radios and has some wicked cool ideas but for my wants & needs here in central NC the 396xt does everything I need it to and more.
That being said: The above is my opinion only and ultimately the only one that can make the above decision is YOU
