I agree, you should never attach an antenna to a cable-tv system. If you have a bad cable TV system, this will just make things worse. If you have a good one, they will locate the signal "leak" from your antenna and charge you for the service call to "fix" the problem.
One other bad thing that this will cause is if you have a local signal on the same channel used by the cable-TV system, this will make so that channel will not be good for either the over-the-air or cable signal, even if they broadcast the same "channel" on it.
