Short answer- no. x86 refers to the processor, not the operating system. Or are you running 64 bit Vista? That,
might be a concern.
So does the adapter not show up at all in device manger? Or you can't communicate with the scanner using that cable after the driver is installed?
If the driver
did install, then you might have to adjust com port speeds, both in the scanner and the com port in device manger. They would both need to be the same speed.
