Default Static Approach Channel

The local airport near me (KFHU) has an approach channel but it has a constant static on it and only goes out when somebody talks. Is there any way to reduce this or cut it out completely? I can't scan through the other channels when the approach channel has static and makes it stop every time it scans the bank.

I assume you tried adjusting the squelch? Anyway, electronics can cause such interference. If you can, take a handheld scanner outside with you and see if the static disappears.

It's just complete static until somebody talks on the channel and then it's nice and clear without any static. It's like making sure that channel stays exclusive to them by broadcasting the static 24/7.

I'm on a rubber ducky antenna and a huge VHF/UHF antenna. I'm 8 miles from the airport. The VHF/UHF antenna picks up everything loud and clear with no static besides the one VHF Approach channel.
