Close call over hamilton!!!
Today (monday), I was on my balcony monitoring the snowbirds performing their final show at Toronto(confirmed freq's at ??toronto air show??).. while doing that my scanner hit on 333.3MHz- 2 aircraft air/air. Turned out to be CWHMs Lancaster and a B-25 in formation performing fly bys over Ivor Wynne stadium. Out of nowhere I spotted 2 fast moving aircraft flying over downtown(to fast to id. at that time- but definitly a jet.1 min. later they came back- it was Viper1 and a P-51 in formation flying in the opposite direction from before at high speed and down low. The Lanc/B-25 were now making a second pass over the stadium and viper1/p-51 were headed straight for them!!! After the pass, on 333.3MHz the lanc and b-25 (heritage flight-turned out to be their call sign) totally surprised, started asking each other "What the f--- was that" B-25 was just as surprised and said he had to break formation to avoid the oncoming aircraft/ Lancaster crew said he barely just missed them too!! Sounding very p----d off, they called Hamilton tower 125.0MHz asking who they were and what they were doing there. Tower had no answers for them, so "heritage flight" said they're returning to land. I did go to the CIAS on saturday and remembered Viper1, Raptor1 were using 376.025MHz at the show, so I checked and heard only a few air/air transmissions. 10 mins later I caught Viper1 talking to Hamilton tower requesting a fly by over Dundas, then somewhere by the lake, He got the go, but I heard nothing about the NEAR MISS incident that happened 20mins ago. That was the last I heard. (1hr later I heard Viper1 speaking to Pearson's tower requesting to either land or take off...???? any one else hear this "event" or even know why Viper1/P-51 were flying so low and fast over Hamilton?????

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.282 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)
They were really talking on 333 Mhz? Seems a bit of a stretch

surprised me to. I keep hundreds of misc. milair freqs when scanning. WHEN 333.3 came up it was very clear, I wondered who the heck it might be until the lanc and b-25 flew right overhead. As I cont'd to listen they were just using it for a/a, keeping/adjusting positiions for their formation. When the incident happened I started scanning again and 376.025 popped up for a couple quick transmissions. I never did hear the lanc/b-25 actually talk to the f-16/p-51. They immediately headed for the ap. for landing after the incident. Any one else hear/know anything about this, feel free to fill us in.

i do know there is a web site that one can read over the aviation incidents that occur, unknown if this one would be on it? it should be, since somebody missed the mark on those flights, i will endeavour to find the web site, a buddy of mine at a flying school in Kingston showed me the site once. more to follow hopefully,

cool, see wahat you can find out. It all happened sept. 7 around 7:30pm. But as I said the lanc/b-25 made a few comments about it then told tower(hamilton 125.00) their coming in for landing- never heard the f-16/p-51 mention anything about it(at least not on 376.025) 20 mins later Viper1( f-16) was talking to tower requesting fly by's over a couple area's, never heard tower's answer but I assume he got permission cause 2mins later I heard them (f-16/p-51) roar by but out of my view. Pretty awesome seeing these aircraft flying so low over the city!!! It really sucks that Hamilton scrapped their international airshow, use to be the best in Canada.

Yes it was a good show, i went about 3-4 times many years ago,, we have been going to Geneseo New York for the past 5 years and that is an amazing show, on a grass strip and lots and lots of WW2 stuff, a couple of B-17's B25's and corsairs, spitfire, hellcat, too many to list, it is usually held about the 12th of July each year, its half an hours south of Rochester, we stay in Batavia overnight...highly recomended airshow. The only thing between you in your lawnchair and the aircraft on the runway (close) is a 3/8 line of yellow rope. great spot for pics etc.

The official Transport Canada system for all incidents is here:
CADORS - Home
You'll have to search by date and location. Wait until Monday though, looks like it's crashed today.

Can't help but note the irony in the use of the term "crashed" to describe the condition of their website. I wonder if they use some other term.

Unofficially, their web site had a "deal", officially it either had an "operational irregularity" or experienced controlled flight into terrain. (CFIT).... I'll stick with "crashed" <G>
