Default 2 Classic Air Band Scanners

I just had 2 old favorites repaired and brought back on line. The first is my RS Pro-43 handheld. I bought several keypads from RS back in the day knowing that this was a weak point of the Pro-43. Replaced the keypad, put on a Diamond RH-77 and bam, it's pulling in O'hare (ORD) approach and tower from 25 miles away in my bedroom. It such a simple, easy to use, sensitive receiver.

Additionally, I had someone replace the BNC on my Yupiteru 7100. Again, put on the RH-77 and it's even better that the Pro-43. With 1000 memories, an S-meter, and its ability to receive HF USB , this will be my dedicated MILAIR scanner. The Yupi is also simple and easy to use, its terrific on the airbands.

When I put on the Maldol AL-500H Air band antenna, both radios really stand tall. It's a shame that my Uniden BCD-396T can't receive both air bands as good as these classics.

Gee Eric, and just when I starting to look forward to burning some new holes in your Yupi, too. LOL, seriously, glad you got them up and running. Classic sets. Happy Scanning! - Ted

The Realistic PRO-43 and Diamond RH-77CA is my main airband setup. I hear stuff from even "surrounding states" from an upstairs bedroom. I can't believe the reception! I never found any of the other "dedicated" airband antennas (Maldol AL-500H and Watson W-901) to work any better than the RH77CA.

A great combination for VHF and UHF milair!

Frank
