Thinking about purchasing the Airnav Radarbox. I would be purchasing the unit online in the U.S.

Can someone tell me the length of the supplied antenna cable for indoor use? Not sure if it ships with 10 or 20 feet of cable or if both lengths are offered.
If I needed to increase the length of this cable (for indoor use), is this possible?

Speaking of which, anyone dealt with R&L Electronics out of Ohio? They offer the unit for one of the lowest prices I have seen online. Perhaps someone can suggest a better online company in the U.S. for this device.

The cable length of the antenna included with the Radar Box is definitely NOT 10 meters or 20 meters . While I don't have it anymore, the antenna that came with mine used a 5 meter (about 15 feet) coax with an SMA connector.

The optional (extra-cost) antennas available have variable and longer cable lengths.

The inside antenna is a fairly standard magnet mount using an approximately 1 inch across magnet and light weight flexible whip. Included is a metal disk about the size of a CD to be used as a ground plane. This worked pretty well on the top shelf of my office near a window, as well as in the attic above my desk.

You would likely have much better results however with an external antenna, such as the various 1090 MHz. antennas available from various suppliers.

The included antenna's coax length is about 5 meters, roughly 16.5 feet, while the optional antenna comes with your choice of 10 meter (roughly 33 feet) and 20 meter (roughly 66 feet).

1 meter is about 3.3 feet, although usually I just multiply feet by 3 and remember that the result will be a little low...

All that aside, the RadarBox is a neat toy, I had fun with it but eventually realized I really didn't need it. I chose it over the SBS since it seemed to be a lot easier to set up and use.

I have both the SBS-1 and RadarBox.

They both do the same job, but differently.

The ANRB has the data sharing option, whereas the SBS-1 only has an unofficial solution. The SBS-1 software is flexible and customisable whereas the RadarBox is pretty well fixed, out-of-the-box.

I'm preparing a side-by-side user comparison and it's quite surprising how they line up. For me there's an outright winner, all things taken into account. But that's for another day.

I have also thought about getting one of these, but they say on the Scannermaster web site that as of right now only international flights are squaking Mode S. Is this being implemented for domestic carriers on domestic routes as well? Being here in the midwest, there are not many international carriers overflying my area. Does anyone know if and/or when the domestic routes will have Mode S?

No problem here! I just wanted to make sure that he wasn't expecting a real long cable on the included antenna. The optional antennas are pretty expensive so most people will probably opt for the included antenna at first and then might be disappointed with the results.

AirNav Radarbox

I picked up an Airnav Radarbox off of E-Bay from seller Topcat in Reno, the unit was brand new and I got excellent service from him.

Also added the DPD Productions external antennas a great improvement!

Mode -S users in US are some United, Jetblue, most Frontier, and UPS & Fedex
at least thats what I pick up here in Northern Colorado

My antenna cable is only 9.5ft + 6ft USB cable. My box is in the attic connected by a 50ft USB extension.
