I know that some of the VOLMET channels (aviation weather) will send out a QSL but how about ATC chatter?
I have been able to catch some local ATIS broadcasts from nearby airports but wasn't to sure about ATC communications.

That's the first I've heard of anyone trying to QSL VHF ATC chatter. As one who maintains ATC NavComm equipment, my only concern is whether or not the pilots can hear the controllers (or vice versa) within a specific geographical area.
However, if someone decides to send me a PFC with a SASE, would I toss it in the circular file? Absolutely not! I'll be more than glad to sign it. I've done this many times in the past when dealing with NDB reception reports.

Its been a while for me and out of touch but back in the day those QSL cards and photos from Airliner pilots where some of my favorites, also USCG and NAVY should of keep at it, Think those days are gone will be getting back in to HF and other Utility monitoring soon. I fear QSLs will be hard to come by but will try.

I got a conformation email for SHANNON VOLMET (I think that is how they spell it) from an airport in Dublin, Ireland saying the QSL is being processed. Same thing with the USCG on an weather fax from NMF.

I remember decades ago as a young ham talking to a guy on a KC-135 tanker over the Atlantic ocean. Gosh, I had no idea who I was talking to. But he answered my CQ, and then after we finished talking, a significant pileup ensued. I'm ashamed to say that I never even thought to request a QSL. I was a kid. I had no idea...

When I was flying with FAA Flight Inspection I used the HF several times to work DF aeronautical mobile. It was fun.

As for QSL cards from US FAA facilities I doubt you will have any luck. I know the FAA Barnegat VOLMET in Warren Grove, NJ you most likely won't get a QSL card. As for VHF/UHF FAA facilities I think the same that you won't get a QSL from the maintenance specialists maintaining the facilities.

Yeah, the guy at YCM has no clue what I am asking about but hey, I got a QSL card from the IAA for hearing SHANNON Volmet and I also got one from Nav Canada for hearing Gander Radio. :)
I think I will stick to HF for gathering QSL cards.

Not sure if the problem is that they don't care to verify and return QSLs or they don't have QSLs to send out. Back in the day With my reports I supplied my own QSL Card for them to fill out and return with an enclosed stamp to use if they don't have their own card. The thing is to make it as easy for them as possible to get what you want. I don't have a copy of my premade QSLs to show but the card had a area for them to fil in there verification and place to sign and a space for a station stamp. I did well with them and proved that not all had QSL Cards to send. I will see if I can find one and post a pic.
