I have Radio Shack Pro-93 handheld that I programmed for Unicom at East Troy (WI) airport (123.000).
When I'm tuned to this frequency with no squelch I may hear a little staic when someone transmits but no audio.
However, I do clearly hear a jump plane at 14K feet at the Rochelle (IL) airport. A quick Web search shows that Rochelle's Unicom frequency is 122.975. Rochelle is about 75 miles from East Troy as the crow flies.
I don't have any sort of attenuation enabled on the scanner. Is it just that my scanner has bit the dust?
