Default 10-100 Officer Injured

Birmingham Police, Homewood Police, Trussville Police, Mountain Brook Police, and JCSO were just in pursuit of a green Mazda pickup down Overton Rd. and onto Grants Mill Rd. The vehicle hit a Homewood car and injured the officer. It sounds like he has wrecked on Grants Mill and bailed out and seems to be on foot.

Irondale PD on scene as well as the mayor of Irondale who is requesting all possible assistance from JCSO. Suspect is a white male, 6ft in height, wanted for attempted murder on a Birmingham officer. JCSO's air unit has been authorized and will be en route shortly.

Bob, just one correction, the attempted murder charge is for the Homewood officer since the suspect intentionally rammed the officers vehicle.

JCSO air support FINALLY got authorized?? Hmmm.... nevermind.

WHY does JCSO have a helo if they aren't going to use it for this type situation? Why in the world do they need to get authorization for a high speed pursuit, anyway?

Thankfully the Officer's injuries were not life threatening and the suspect was caught!

Somehow I'm not surprised. I am surprised Langford hasn't gotten BPD an air unit. JCSO doesn't need one, especially if they never use it. Birmingham, on the other hand, needs one. But it all comes down to $$$$, and who has that?! lol

Jefferson County uses their helo often in the NE part of the county near Center Point and Clay. They have even helped CPFD out a week or so ago
