Default Jeff Co Motorscout Down / Fatality

Just got a text from a friend that has heard via Irondale scanner that a Jefferson County Motorscout was killed today in a wreck. He was flown out by lifesaver but succumbed to his injuries. Thats all I have right now.

Original information was incorrect. The rider was not a sworn deputy. He had a "courtesy commission" card, which is what the sheriff gives to his friends. Sorry for putting the story out there before all information had been confirmed.
For the record, I am off today and NONE of this was privy <sp> information to my work.

Glad to hear it was not a fulltimer, not to diminish the loss of life .

Quick question: What is a motorscout? never heard that term before here on the left coast. Motorcycle Officer?

Mike

I was curious about the term "motor scout" too, guessing that it was a motorcycle officer. A quick google confirmed my WAG was definately correct.

Wow, I knew what you meant with the term "motorscout". I must be from the "old days" too then, huh?

I have heard Motorman, Leathergod, Ponch, Solo, Saddlebag Commando, & Kawasaki Cowboy before but never Motorscout. Thanks, one for the list. Mike
