Ever noticed that Shelby (58) and St. Clair (59) are reversed? Some of that Alabama alphabetization, I guess! Maybe St. Clair should have spelled it out.

Concerning the tag numbering, and the "top three", I suppose this system has been around since the 40's or 50's, and at the time represented the three most populous counties....

My question is if that same principle were applied today, based on today's populations, would the top three be the same. I wonder if for exzample Madison County might make the top three cut. Plus Shelby is growing fast...

Baldwin County where I live was reported the fastest grwoing county in the state last year. It's growing like gangbusters with all of the damn tourists buying up property here. Hell yeah I'm bitter!

If what I heard is true... following the last census, Montgomery is now larger than Mobile(population), which would reverse those two but keeping Jefferson as #1.

If the murder rate of the past few weeks keeps up, we might not be the largest. I haven't seen anything like this since the 80's.

Amen brother, The homicide rate in Birmingham is spiraling to epidemic proportions which can only adversely affect the population. I have been involved in EMS since 1971 and not very many times except for a few periods of the 80's have I saw as much murder and mayhem. How and when will it stop?. God Only knows....
