Default Need a Dothan Update

I will be passing through the Dothan area later on this year on the way to the Florida Panhandle. I've started working some programming files and I need some local knowledge. Has Dothan moved to the new P25 system? Has Houston County joined them? Is the new system pretty much all encrypted? Any help would be appreciated. On my last trip through there, I had Houston County programmed as the LTR system and I had the frequencies for Dothan's Multi-Net system entered conventionally. Thanks.

Default Dothan / Houston County, AL

FCC Licenses and Scanner Frequencies for Houston County, Alabama (AL)

I just looked at the FCC d'base. I saw a cluster of UHF dedicated to Houstom Co S-O.

This has to be the most challenging county in the state for figuring out who's on what.

Have a great trip and good luck on finding out more about Houston County.....

Take care...Happy Fourth of July!

Dothan has gone to a P25 system. The only channels that are not encrypted I have found are Police Dispatch and Fire Dispatch. At some point, I believe Houston County is supposed to go to the same system as Dothan. As of now Houston County is using 464.125 for dispatch. I have heard Houston County Fire simulcast on 453.200 and Dothan's system, though I hear more traffic on 453.200. Hope this helps.

Default Dothan

Thanks for those who replied, does anyone have the talkgroup ID's for Police and Fire Dispatch on the P25 system? I'm trying to get my files for the trip finished up this week.

Steve - just a caution about the Dothan area.

If you are unfortunate enough to be on Highway 231 in Dothan during a strong thunderstorm while traveling, keep the scanner on -

The western loop of the Ross Clark Circle has some hilly terrain and significant street flooding takes place regularly during bad weather.

Sounds as if y'all are heading to Panama City, Apalachicola or locations in between (Highway 98) - nice areas! Take care and have a safe trip.
