Problems With State Trooper Frequency in SW Alabama
The Alabama State Troopers are having problems with 155.445 the Car Frequency in South West Alabama. The State Troopers are receiving a transmitter on 155.445 every 65 seconds. It is a 3 or 4 second digital burst on frequency with 4kc of modulation. Have you noticed this problem ?? If so they need your help to track down the noise.

Sounds like a project for the local Ham operators to help with if there are any "fox hunters" among them in your area. They practice finding unknown sources of interference on the ham bands by having contests where a hidden transmitter is located and then tracking it using directional antennae. It might not hurt to give them a call and see if they are up to the challenge of helping to find the source and location of the interference you speak of. My guess is, they will jump on it with entusiasm.

Is the State DPS Transmitter in Spanish Fort on 155.445 (KIB515) a repeater OR simplex? IF it is a repeater, the input frequency and access code could be getting hit from Mississippi and just rebroadcasting the digital burst from another system. I haven't monitored that frequency from my occasional location in Orange Beach in a long time and can't remember if it is a repeater or not.

Ala DPS SW Ala
The frequency of 155.445 is the input for the State Trooper Chanel 2. There normally is no PL tone on the ADPS radio system.

Based only on your description, that sounds just like a MOTOTRBO system. I'm in a different state, but some of the systems here have the beacon signal activated where it turns on every 65 seconds and sends idle data for about 4 seconds. Don't know if a 3rd harmonic freq like 466.3zz could mix in with 155.455 freq, but you never know ?? Maybe the system is also transmitting a morse code ID every hour so you can record it and get the callsign.

If indeed it is interfering with Trooper communications, I do believe they are aware of it & would have it tracked down in no time & "taken care of" if the need be.

Hey RadioJonD, if you may have seen some of bee's other post around here, it would seem that he holds Law Enforcement Officers in quite disdain.

The Poarch Creek Indians have a MOTOTRBO repeater system in Atmore. I picked it up several times on my way through that area, and it seems like you can pick up their repeaters for quite some distance.

Update to Problems With State Trooper Frequency in SW Alabama
Update:
I found out last week that the problem with the State Trooper Frequency has been solved. An inside source told me that it was A Digital MotorolaTurbo system in Mississippi was causing the problem. Sorry I don't remember the Police Departments name.

I was unaware of this thread, and almost started a new one about this issue a couple of weeks ago. I was receiving almost the same thing up here in Marion county loud and clear. A 3 second long burst of data, but it seemed like every 30 seconds instead of 65. I figured it had something to do with MotoTRBO since it sounded exactly like this sample. I would only pick it up a few days a week, but all day long when I did. This went on for about a month, but it stopped Saturday. I'm glad they found the problem, that was getting annoying.

I've been picking it up here in Northeast MS on 155.445 as well. Not a very strong reading on the S meter on my Pro106, but it had been pretty consistent for the past several days
