Exclamation Re-Band in Huntsville

I just heard (25-Sep-09) at about 8:00pm that an officer picked up his new Re-Banded radio. The dispatcher asked him why he was "Keying up with the wrong designator". He told her it was in fact a new radio!

I guess the cut over is almost done.

But I did hear them.....

I am listening to a Pro-97 and still hear them......

The official changeover is supposed to occur on Sept 30/October 1st...

They are having NUMEROUS problems with the radios not being programmed with the correct radio ID.

This is causing problems with the dispatchers not knowing who is transmitting and also with individual officers when they attempt to "private-line" (individual private two-way talkgroup) with each other.

For general knowledge of
The CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) computer at the 911 center has a database that displays an alias of the radio ID to the dispatcher. That way the dispatcher is shown "Baker 3-11" instead of the radio's actual ID on the system, which would be a hex number such as 541B

Thumbs up

Yeah, I have heard that quite often. They (the dispatchers) ask for key ups all the time. They don't get the proper ID's.

Thanks for the info about the time frame.

check your pm also.

That only applies if the channels were in the NPSPAC portion of the band (866-869 MHz).

I already placed the frequencies into Freescan. Now I'll wait untll the channels don't work and then upload the new ones into the BCT15.

If anyone has an update as when the cut over will or has happened, please keep us informed.

I noticed that on 30-Sep-09 the entire system went down for about a half hour, but did come back online and I was able to hear all TGID's as normal.

Thanks for any input.
