Re-Band in Opelika, AL done
My 396T stopped trunking this system right monday a week ago. Looked in the FCC license DB
and found new frequencies for them. I did not know what freq. were the old ones so I put all the freq.
in one file and it still would not trunk right. Looked deeper in the FCC DB and found letters about
what old freq. would be replaced by the new freq. I think the Control Channels have changed also. Now scanner is working like it did before the re-banding.
Here is a list of the old freq. and the new that replaced them.
OLD---------------NEW
857.9625---------856.1875
858.2125---------857.0375
858.7375---------854.4875
858.9375---------854.6375
860.2125---------855.4125
860.4875---------854.3875
860.7625---------854.0375
858.4875---------856.9125
859.2125---------854.7875
859.4625---------854.9375
859.7375---------855.0375
859.9375---------855.1875
Also I have never had any TGID,s show up ENC on the scanner. Now on Tac-1 I hear dispatch
fine and some unit I hear fine but some units I do not hear and scanner shows ENC. Not good

Opelika TRS
Joejo:
Thanks for the updated frequency list. You say that you are now receiving Opelika with their new frequencies but you didn't reveal which of the frequencies are the CONTROL CHANNELS?

To tell the truth I do not know how to do that. I did some reading on here and the best
I can tell I can not do it with software without my scanner having a discriminator tap. Can
you tell me another way to find them. Thanks for any Info.
By the way I am useing a 396T.

aAl you need to do is go thru the channels manually & when you hear a loud buzz or strange noise that is the Control channel

Opelika
Nice job, Joejo! You discovered the main control channel whether you thought you could or not. As AlabamaRS said, that loud buzzing is the active control channel "talking" to the system and directing all conversations on each talkgroup. If you can, continue to listen for this sound each day until we can determine whether any of the other frequencies may also be alternate control channels.
I'm travelling through Opelika Thursday so I will check it out as well.

Here what I have found so far. About 9 PM last night freq. 857.4875 stop working (buzzing).
I then found freq. 857.0375 had started buzzing and flashing SID:5C1Bh and then at 9 AM this
morning it stopped working and freq. 857.4875 started back to working.
Also now that they have re-banded, I never heard or scene it before, on TGID Tac1 and Tac 2
I get like a 5 second data burst and LNK shows up on the screen. Also I have not heard one
officer ask Dispatch to run 10-27, 10-28, or 10-29 on car tag, DL, or a person and thats not right
for this PD. I know that the cars have had computers in them for years and I asked a officer could
they do that on them. He told me they said they can but no had showed them how to do it. I am
going to bet they have been showed how now.

They only changed 12 freq. and they keep 8 of there old freq. System uses 20 freq.
These freq. they did not change: 855.4625, 855.7375, 855.9625, 856.2125, 856.4875, 856.7375,
857.2125, 857.4875.
Ok checked at 5:30 AM and now freq. 855.9625 is buzzing and flashing SID:5C1Bh.
CC found now
857.4875
857.0375
857.2125
855.9625
Can this system have this many CC?? Maybe testing??
I do not want to give wrong Info to anyone.

FYI--officers still call in driver info and tag number. Both can be done on the in-car laptop but its still done a lot over the air.
Also--is anybody in Opelika that is familiar with pro-197?
