I can here the transmissions clear on the open 800 channels, but I am not hearing anything on the talk groups. Help ? Oh I am hearing the control channel tones on one freq.

Hello Delta,
New here myself and hope to monitor the Morgan Co EDACS as soon as I get a radio that supports trunking. You had any luck with the monitoring yet?

Cool Re. Morgan County Edacs

Hello John,

Somewhat, I have the 3 sites programmed in in 3 banks as instructed and I have all the talk groups programmed in each bank also. However the only thing I am hearing is 1 talk group on site 3. I think this might be due to only hearing a control channel ( in conventional mode ) on site 3 and none on the other 2 sites. I was told I should take a road trip to Decatur, about 15 miles away and see if I may be too far away to properly receive the control channels on the other 2 sites to trunk them.

Thanks for the info and let us know what you come up with. I am hoping Santa will bring me a trunking scanner this year!

With an outside antenna you could probably hear the system. You can definitely hear they 3 channel system on the east side of the county. I checked with a EDACS walkie on Meridian St Friday afternoon.

Hey morganAL,

I am hearing site 3 mostly talk group 577 which in the Metro police dispatch. But as far as others I get Decatur Fire tg 545 Great sometimes and nothing sometimes. If you have a list of freq different or in differant lcn number please send them to me so I can try that. Thanks.

The freqs and LCN in the DB here are correct. There just isn't a lot of traffic on that site. Metro is always on that one because it is forced to it. The reason you hear Decatur Fire erratically is because of radios logging in to the site from time to time. The central switch (called an IMC) is smart. It knows whether or not there are radios on the different sites listening to a certain talkgroup. Basically, it looks at all logged in units on a site and what TG they are currently on. If none are on say Dec Fire (545) then it won't route calls for TG 545 to that site. AN outdoor antenna up a few feet should enable you to listen to the main site in Decatur. The Decatur EMS crews talk back into it from Governors Dr in front of Hsv Hosp on a regular basis.

The only other traffic I have heard on any of the other tgs was 2 county fire depts units asking each other for a radio check. I am not hearing Decatur EMS. What is their TG ? Excuse this question but, as far as Decatur Fire, I hear them great on the 800 in conventional mode, of course not all traffic since it is a trunked system, What talk group are they on , I thought I had all their tgs listed, at least the ones from rr page.

Decatur EMS is 737 for dispatch and 738 for general BS. Decatur Fire Dispatch is 545. Their TAC channels are 594-601. They also have 546 Which they call safety, and 551 they call talkaround. 549 and 550 are training TG. 593 is for County Fire units. No dispatch here though. 693 and 694 are the rescue squad. 577 is Metro which is Trinity PD and Priceville PD. Decatur PD is also simulcast on TG 529. Is the same traffic as on their UHF system
