I confirmed a bunch of talk groups today, and found a few new ones. The 306## series is Madison County Fire. I confirmed the encrypted talk groups by matching up Radio IDs that had affiliated with previously confirmed talk groups. So far, it looks like Bobo, Harvest, Meridianville and Monrovia VFDs are the only County Fire Departments that have the new radios.

On some calls this week, Madison County Fire Dispatch is using the P25 system, and some calls are the VHF 154.385 patched into the P25 system. If you listen to 154.385, it is obvious which radios they are using (the audio is considerably lower when they are on the P25 radios). All of the calls on the P25 system are patched into the VHF, and all VHF calls are patched into the P25 system. There is a lot of activity on other talk groups that is not being patched into the VHF frequencies. I am guessing that the patches will stop and everyone will be on the P25 system by January 1 so that they do not have to pay for narrow banding the VHF system. Likewise HEMSI.

I am thinking the 30000 through 30005 will be County Wide Common talk groups. I have seen Radio IDs that have been affiliated with HPD, MCSO and County Fire on 30000 and 30001. One new frequency was added to the Huntsville P25 towers today - 857.66875.

would i be correct to assume those are for the huntsville site?

also, do these have to be in any kind of logical order? i'm assuming no, since even without those programmed, the scanner still picks up traffic.

thank you

Yes, these are both on the Huntsville towers. They do not need to be programmed. All you need is the control channels.

If any of you can listen to the system Friday 1/18, it may be worthwhile. A new talk group #30125 showed up today with a considerable amount of what was probably radio tech activity. I am guessing it might be Madison Police, since it is between Huntsville Police and Madison County Sheriff. There were also several new 3 digit Radio IDs that showed up Thursday affiliated with 30125 including 3 dispatch consoles. There was also a lot of activity with the 16777215 "All Units - identifies all subscriber units" Radio ID.

Pro06Com found several new talk groups today in the 301## series, but no activity. All of the new talk groups show just one hit. Sometime next week, a new user will probably join this system.

There is no "will be" to it. As of a few minutes past noon, it sounds like they have vacated the old system. 301## series, so far all talk groups including 30125 Dispatch are encrypted.

I will post a complete list and all of the Pro96Com files later tonight.

OK, I'm not sure what is going on. HFD is back on the old system now.

Madison County Fire is now showing up on Pro96Com as not being encrypted sometimes, and sometimes being encrypted. I'm not sure if that is an issue with either reception quality or if some radios have encryption turned off and others still have it turned on.

Huntsville Fire tactical talk groups are showing up with encryption being turned off.

I found 7 new frequencies today:
769.33125
851.71250
853.27500
853.66250
855.21250
856.43750
857.66875

Huntsville Fire is no longer using both systems. Talk groups for Huntsville Fire are:
30125 Huntsville Fire Dispatch
30126 HFD
30127 HFD TAC 3
30128 HFD TAC 4
30129 HFD TAC 5
30130 HFD TAC 6
30131 HFD
30132 HFD
30133 HFD
30134 HFD
30135 HFD
30137 HFD
30138 HFD
30139 HFD
30140 HFD
30141 HFD
30142 HFD
30143 HFD
30144 HFD
30147 HFD
30148 HFD

I assume there will be several more talk groups for HFD. They had 32 talk groups on the old system.

None of these talk groups showed as being encrypted in Pro96Com today, but I have seen them encrypted while HFD was simulcasting on the old and new systems.

Madison County Fire was showing not encrypted earlier today, but is back using encryption on everything tonight.

Pro96Com is now showing 6 Neighboring Sites (previously was just 303 and 304 which are New Market and Gurley sites).
303,"T0303",46b,"01-1596",771.98125,""
304,"T0304",46b,"01-1604",772.03125,""
307,"T0307",46b,"01-1320",770.25625,""
308,"T0308",46b,"01-1602",772.01875,""
309,"T0309",46b,"01-1918",773.99375,""
310,"T030A",46b,"01-1838",773.49375,""

I think 302 (the site I am logging) is the Monte Sano site. Two of these new sites should be Drake Mountain and Rainbow Mountain. I have no clue what the other two would be. According to what I am being told locally, the Madkin Mountain site that is on Redstone Arsenal is not going to be used for the new system.

Now I really need to figure out how to log some of these neighboring sites instead of just tower 302.

thanks for all the info. when i was listening this morning, it seemed like a lot of traffic was missing. it would make sense if it was because it was on different sites. maybe one of them is on the tower county fire used as the ledges repeater? another could be on capshaw?

I stand corrected on one comment in that last post...I just looked up the new call signs that show in the tower 302 file. The Madkin Mountain site is now included in the system. Neither of the FCC files for the new call signs shows an address for the 6th and 7th sites. I am guessing one of them might be in the far northwest near Harvest or Bobo, and maybe one will be far southeast near New Hope or the Huntsville Speedway, or maybe one of them might be near the new HFD Station 18 that is in Limestone County. Anyone else have guesses on this?

The Capshaw site certainly makes a lot of sense to me. I do not know where the Ledges site is. I doubt the Rainbow Mountain site can provide sufficient coverage all the way up to Bobo.

Regardless of which site you are closest to, you should be able to hear everything, since they are all networked together. I am seeing everything on the tower 302 site that I am able to log from home.

oh ok thanks. the ledges site is on top of green mountain, i believe. it is the repeater new hope, owens crossroads and other eastern county vfd's would use back in the conventional days.

I just got the address from the FCC license. I doubt that would work for the P25TRS. Google Earth shows the street address to be maybe a mile south of the WAFF tower which is on Rt 431. I am thinking it is too close to the Monte Sano site to be effective and would really need a tower further southeast in the county.

Monte Sano, Drake, and Rainbow are a single simulcast cell which means all of the sites transmit the same site ID and etc. To radios and scanners, the 3 sites look like a single site.
