im looking for a scanner that is compatible with OPD's Motorola system.

According to the RR database (Opelika Trunking System, Opelika, Alabama - Scanner Frequencies), they're a standard Motorola system with both analog and digital radios. Any of the current model digital scanners should work for them. These will be the higher end scanners though so expect to pay around $400 - $600 for them. There may be some sales that bring the price down a bit lower due to the holiday season.

The RS models are the Pro-106, Pro-197, and Pro-18. The GRE models are the PSR-500, PSR-600, and PSR-800. The Uniden models are the BCD396XT, BCD996XT, and HP-1.

As I indicated, there may be some sales going on as shown inthis thread http://forums.radioreference.com/gre-scanners/253692-psr-800-black-friday-special.html

There are also times when refurbished models (generally like new, but often with shorter warranty) are available like this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10919578

Seem like Opelika re-banded today November 7 2013.

The "T" on my Gre psr-800 display stopped flashing. Heard "radio repair" keying up lots yesterday.

Got to fix this asap. HELP?

Update the SD card, or, just replace the frequencies on the card.

A Pro-96 seems to work ok on Opelika's TRS.
FCC DB shows them to be using 20K0F3E / Wideband Analog Emission.
If they are running both analog & digital voice they should have both an analog & digital emission designator.
I guess they forgot to update their emission designator.

Frequency 855.4125 doesn't appear to be a valid freq. It's not listed in the FCC DB.

After reading for 6 hours yesterday, many searches, youtube videos I managed to update to 1.08 firmware. As far as I know nothing else was updated or reprogrammed.
Long story short. Wife is happy to be listening to our son as he patrols. :)
The psr-800 started working on its on at 10:00 today.
Thanks for the help. I've learned that I have a lot to learn about ez scan.

About 4 days ago scanner stopped picking up Opelika. I can still catch a few telemetry signals so I know all hope is not lost. Heard lots of "radio shop" traffic before they killed it. The "T" is flashing.

Still reading and learning.

I will give an update on my progress this week. I did try ezscan update. I know I wiped out my SD card. Got it working again, but only hearing other analog LOE systems. Not Opelika.
I will eventually get it right if it's possible. HOPE!
Wife is about to leave me over this.

The CC have changed. Also Unit IDs have too, from what i have found while scanning. Im pretty sure they are using an Astro system, from the request for bid .docs i found. Also, Fire has gonna totally digital from what a fire captain told me. This is all i know

Eta: i just added all the freq i could under a P25 system.

Emissions change from Analog / 20K0F3E to P-25 / 8K10F1E for all system Output & Input Frequencies:

I believe they are also using Mobile Data which also requires Emission of 8K10F1D.
I assume once the changes have been made they may change the system over to P-25 CAI.
If the control channels go P-25 then I assume System ID may also be changing.
Talk Groups may also change.

Just found my 396T had stop working on this system. Had to change system type to Motorola APCO25 in arc396. My file works now but the system ID have changed to SID:046Bh-0311 and the talk groups have changed. The signal is also real weak at my house now.

Setup a p25 system with cc 854.0375. I am getting traffic there, but I am still working on figuring out the rest of the system. I'll post more when I get back to my computer

Opelika P-25

The new Opelika P-25 system may now be part of the AFRN system.

New Site Info below.
Sysid -- RFSS - Site ------ Name ---- County
46B ---- 3 (3) --- 011 (B) - Opelika -- Lee
SID:046Bh-0311

WACN=BEEOO: Means the site is a Motorola system.
Site= Zone 003, Site Id 011
Control LCN: 00-0485 (854.03750)
854.0375 should be the current active P-25 control channel for the new system.
Alt control channels are: 856.73750 & 856.21250

This this may now be connected to the rest of the AFRN system and listed below Site 010 on the AFRN system.
Someone may want to check the Opelika area for any new active 700 control channels or sites.
May not be any nearby but it doesn't hurt to check.
It appears the new P-25 talk groups are now single digit.
Any ideas on converting the old Motorola talk groups over to P-25 would be helpful.
