Default Who Uses 154.415?

Does anyone know what fire department IDs as 1200 on 154.415? The dispatch I heard was to an address on Clear Road.

Thanks!
Dave

Huntsville fire had used it in the past I know,Snead police/fire are using it illegally b/c their city clerk let the license expire many years ago but they still use it on a regular basis.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue uses it as a backup frequency and to tone out their one volunteer dept.- Green Mountain, Station 13. With the implementation of the new 700 system, Im not sure if they are going to keep using that channel for paging or not. The old (red) minitors are not narrowbandable.

1200 is not a Green Mtn or HFR unit. I would suspect skip from some other area. You could track that down by listening to the time of day given to see what time zone, listen for streets and addresses dispatched and google map it. Before many people used automatic cw id, the call sign was a quick way to find out who. If you know cw at 20+ wpm, you might could still use that.

Arrow Alabama 154.415

At one time, a number of small town, rural Volunteer Fire Departments were licensed on 154.415 in Jefferson County. Last time I looked, they were still listed to those departments.

I just heard them again, this time with a much stronger signal. It is a repeater Dispatch IDs as "Central Fire" and it is in our time zone, which rules out anyone in Georgia. This fire call was for a roll over accident on Gladden or maybe Gadden Road. I have heard 2 obviously different CW call signs, but they are way too fast for me to read.

There is both a Gladden Road and Clear Road in Hardin County TN, but no use of 154.415 in that county. 154.415 is used by Eastview in McNairy County, which is the next county west of Hardin, but not close enough to either of those roads, both of which are on the other side on the TN River. I discovered a Skip forum on RR.com tonight, so I will report these to loggings there.

Exclamation Using 154.415

There is a Gladden Rd. listed in the Springville area of Jefferson/St Clair county. I'm not sure Springville is on the list for that frequency. The only other city that had a Gladden Rd was Gadsden(?) in Etowah County.

I have heard that frequency in use, but from Gadsden the signal is too low to understand any voice I get 1 bar in my mobile when listening to it.

Whenever they decide to use it and I told them several yrs ago when I was still with the city that the city clerk let their license expire but they ignored it and keep using it anyway, its them not me and there is no repeater so it has limited range.

I think it is Hardin County TN that I am hearing on 154.415. I heard a dispatch for a boat fire at [something]-ing State Park at about 2:40am today. I found Pickwick Landing State Park in Hardin County. Hardin County Fire Dispatch uses 153.950 for mobiles and the dispatcher consoles, which is also the input for the Huntsville Green Mountain VFD repeater. The database listing shows 127.3 PL for Hardin County. Apparently there is an intermittent problem that is allowing the Hardin County dispatcher console to get into the HSV Green Mountain repeater which uses 156.7 PL.

This matches up with the earlier info I found about Gladden and Clear Roads being in Hardin County, and they are on the same side of the river, and Clear Road is close to the entrance to the park.

It has to be a pretty strong signal that I am hearing. I am using a 2-meter roll up J-Pole antenna taped to my window.

I confirmed today that this is Hardin County TN. I heard them ID earlier today. So I guess we can also confirm that there is some sort of problem with the Huntsville AL Green Mountain VFD repeater on 154.415. Hardin County uses the same input frequency but a different PL.

I am kinda surprised that the repeater is still working since both Huntsville Fire and Madison County Fire have moved to the new P25 system. Green Mountain VFD is the only volunteer department within the city of Huntsville and are dispatched by HFD. It has been weeks since I have heard Green Mountain on this frequency.
