yes its a Satellite radio system i think or it could be phone lines they have been doing this for over two years. and it sounds really good much clearer better audio. also this is the same type of system that air evac uses there dispatch center is also out of state.listen for aircom that is what the base id is .

You are correct, the repeater is linked back to the dispatch center by VoIP, or at least that's how AirEvac operates. AirEvac and possibly others do use a satellite based tracking system called SkyTrack, but their radios are not satellite based.

Yes its still good, I'm hearing them very good. There dispatch does sound good to be VoIP. I just hope they have a backup system for that.

Today I heard Lifesaver on 151.085 throwing PL/CTSS 151.4 so looks like 151.4 is used on both 155.355 and 151.085. Of course I could be wrong.

I was told that when Lifeflight Med Hellicopter goes into Mississippi that they are being dispatched from Pensacola, Florida via the Web with a tower in Mississippi. I even know of a Sheriff Department that uses the Web to tie in there 3 towers across a county to dispatch. The Sheriff deputy can even log in on the web and send the dispatcher a quick message to tell her he is in service or going to a call. No I don't think there are backup systems in place. Not the way to do it if you ask me. .

The Russell Co Pubic Works use 151.0850 with a PL 100 here. I stop hearing them at the first of the
month so I cut the pl to search cause I thought maybe they changed it after narrowbanding. Late friday
I heard Livesaver calling, with a PL 151.4, to ground unit asking for patients condition. But I could not
hear the ground units.

joejo95, I wondered about Russell Co PW with this change. Also will be "interesting" with Clay Co, I believe 151.085 is the input to their "North" repeater although Clay Co does use DCS on that repeater. If you do find what Russell Co PW is using now pass it on, I try to keep Russell Co stuff programmed in case I make down that way.

Tonight I heard on this freq. and PL my local ambulance service, Liveline, calling for airlift for 2 patients.
They were calling them Air Care. Then Air Care was talking to someone called dispatch they had 2 going
to the Medical Center in Columbus Ga. But I never heard there dispatch.

How About This!!!
All
I took the information from the previous post and added 151.085 to one of my radios to see if I'd get any activity.
Tonight about 9:25pm I heard LifeSaver-3 simulcasting on both 151.085 and 155.355 both had a tone of 151.4. Dispatch was responding on 155.355, I think they are dispatched out of Auburn in this area, not sure about this, but would explain the weakness in the signal. The aircraft signal was much stronger as you would imagine and at one point referred to 151.085 as "company". "This is LifeSaver-3 on company." They are transferring a patient from East Alabama to UAB.
Thought that was an interesting catch.
