Default Geneva County Alabama New Trunked System

Just found where Geneva County has a new Trunked Radio. What I thought was odd about it is that it is licensed under a rural vol fire dept. They can use up to 200 radios for the license. I'm not sure if it is active yet or not. The license allows for Digital Nexedge as well as narrowband.

That's odd its just for the FD. In the notes it says its to minimize property loss.

It's possible the system was bought with a grant, and that department was the one that applied for it. Although if it was an AFG or SAFECOM grant, they should not have bought a NEXEDGE trunking system. Both of those grants now require the equipment purchased to be P25 CAI compliant, unless the applicant can justify why they think non-P25 gear aids interoperability.

The 12.5 KHz NXDN designator (8K30F1E) reveals that this is a Kenwood NEXEDGE system, as Icom only supports 6.25 KHz NXDN (4K00F1E). The NXDN trunking formats are also proprietary, so they will be locked in to using Kenwood gear.
