It's been about 15 years since I lived in Tuscaloosa but at that time they had a conventional (non-trunked) 800Mhz system with 2 or 3 frequencies. Check the
RR database or the FCC at http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/reports7/.
Good luck!

Northport is still conventional.

PD is on 855.7125
FD is on 856.7125

I would also program 857.7125 in... It's been a while since I've heard anything on that one, but I have heard the pd use it a time or two.

The system that they have now sucks, don't expect to hear them unless you are fairly close to the city.

Must have reduced power since the early 90's, I had them loud and clear at my QTH
using a BC200xlt with the stock antenna. I would have thought they would be using
Southern-LINC or the County / City VHF system by now.

I'm not positive but seems like I came across an article on Southern-LINC's site
about Tuscaloosa County using the LINC for mobile data. I don't recall if the article
said anything about voice.

Most of the SO's traffic is now on Southern Linc, but you can still hear them on 155.6100 when they have no service on the Linc. They used to use 155.6700 as a backup, i'm not sure if that one is even licensed to them anymore... haven't heard them using it in over a year.

I'll go out on a limb and say that they'll be switching over to a P25 system and probably encrypt, just like TCSO and TPD. If that happens then all we'll have left to listen to law enforcement wise will be UAPD (and I'm sure they'll follow the rest of the crowd soon). On the flip side, the local fire departments are still in the clear, for what that's worth...
