Most fire activity in Alaska isn't on National Forest System land - the 17-million-acre Tongass is a rainforest and basically does not have a fire regime in modern history (I believe the fire scientists say it burns once every 3,500 years or something). The Chugach has a few more fires, but still nothing like the Lower 48 forests.

R10's primary fire resources are three 4-person Type 6 engine modules (one on the Chugach, two on the Tongass) and two 4-person crew modules (both on the Tongass). The Chugach also has a fuels crew. By combining individuals from these resources with militia, the region supports a single Type 2IA handcrew.

The BLM and state Division of Forestry have much bigger fire organizations, including IHCs.

There aren't many online scanners up here, unfortunately.
