Monitoring In Anchorage

I live In Florida but will be in Anchorage in September and will be bringing my Uniden scanners 996p2/325p2 with me. Just looking at the Database page it appears the system in use up there (ALMR) Is much different than the Simulcast systems that are used here.There so many different sites there, if I were Downtown and wanted to Monitor the Fire Dept. which site should I program into my scanner.

I had the same question last year. Here's the thread. It took me a while to figure out how to monitor it. Not as easy as you used to be on the old Anchorage TRS system.

Be sure to program in Chugicak FD and Girdwood FD - they are both dispatched by Anchorage Fire Alarm (based at Anchorage Station 12). You should be able to hear them as well if you have the correct sites in.

Also - from downtown Anchorage you will be able to hear the Mat Su Valley FDs and their dispatch at 9G Base out of Palmer. They are on the state system as well - but mostly use conventional frequencies.
