Default ALMR Ketchikan

I notice there's a site listed in the DB for Ketchikan, but no freqs are flagged as controls. Is that because nobody has found CCs? Or does Ketchikan use freqs from some other site?

Normally it means that no one has identified which are the primary or alternate control channels.

It's probably that I haven't got a chance to go down there and confirm the CCs yet.

But seriously, the frequencies probably came from the FCC assignments long before any sites in that area became active. A lot of sites around the state are not online yet and many that have come online have not been confirmed by anybody in that area yet. There isn't as many hardcore scannists up here as there are down in the states unfortunately.

Why? Are you in that area beta testing the new GRE PSR-500?

I'll be going up there on Friday to visit family, and wanted to take a radio with me. I'll program the DB's freqs for the Ketchikan site (304) and will see what I find.

Hey, that'll be great if you can submit your findings for the area when you come back!

It doesn't look like the site is active at all. From north of Ward Cove down to south of Saxman, none of the 4 listed frequencies have any voice or control activity.

The only things I've heard have been some police traffic on 154.725 and a Coast Guard helicopter looking at a floating life jacket on Marine 21.

I know this might be obvious but can you do a search from 154.6500 to 156.2400 (in 12.5kHz steps if possible) to see if you can find any CCs?

I've searched that entire range. No activity at all, apart from the intermittent (conventional, analog) police traffic.

A year later still no control channel.
I didn't hear any control channel in the area of Ketchikan on July 23, 2008

I searched the whole range before getting to Ketchikan and leaving!

Update:

Checked again this year on July 11th, 2009. Didn't find any ALMR sites in Ketchikan area.

Someone else has to check in 2010
