Default Fdc Fd-160a

I just bought this recently off of EBay and this was the first day I really had a chance to play with it.

I am already finding though, that it actually seems to have better reception than my Pro-96 scanner!

I tuned both to receive a frequency used by a local company and the FDC picks up their transmissions but the Pro-96 does not.

Anyone else here with one of these care to share their experiences?

That model covers VHF 136-174 MHz and only that. The Pro96 covers of course
vhf and many other bands so this would be expected. This is a trade off with
scanners vs mono-band commercial ht's.

What surprises me is that the FDC is picking up the transmissions while the Pro-96 is silent.

GRE scanners are prone to overloading if a nearby frequency is pretty powerful. You might try running the Pro-96 with the attenuator on next time and see if it can pick up the same traffic while the FDC radio is receiving that signal.
