I've never seen a service manual for the Yupteru MVT-7100 either online or in hard copy, not even a schematic. Shame, I could use one. One would think these must exist on some dusty shelf, somewhere in some service department, someplace.
The +USB / -LSB offset tuning thing is perfectly normal with the 7100, however. In practice mine runs between 1.4 and 1.8 kilohertz, using 1.6 kilohertz usually works well enough for memory entries. So lets say you want to program 11.175 MHz in USB mode. Program 11.176.6 instead.
Tuning in this fashion was pretty much an accepted practice among 70's shortwave radios, so they really weren't all that far outside of the box at the time. Still, a bit of a pain, though. You may find some signals need a touch of further fine tuning for good audio in sideband mode, too.
It is possible to create a spreadsheet or database which will calculate the values for you if your math is as bad as mine. The freqs still have to be manually entered, anyway.
Kind of a shame no one ever came up with a modification for adding an RS-232 interface to these fine radios. 1000 channels is a lot to program by hand.
