Default Vertex vx150 Frequency Select Knob Question

I own a vx-150 and am wondering about the frequency select knob. The radio I bought has a knob that seems to be loose when turning to select frequencies. Is this normal for this radio, or is my unit defective. It seems that the indents on the knob feel like they are worn out. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Does the knob lock into the indents while selecting frequencies?? Are they tight clicks when turned or loose?? I hope I am describing it correctly.
