Default Rat Shack 20-006 antenna

I know its a good receiving antenna, but has anyone had any experience using it for transmitting on 2 meters?

It works 'ok' for transmitting on 2m, but you have to have it set to the right length for the lowest SWR. Your better off with a longer rubber duck antenna.

I have mine set up as an emergency 2 meter antenna in case the J-pole goes down. It is an excellent scanner antenna as my PRO 97 hears stations 40-60 miles away.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

I had one; you have to change the length for different bands. I prefer the Diamond RH77ca antenna.

I may leave them on the scanners then. I'm eyeing a Workman 5/8 wave duck on the ebay.

a 5/8 wave is pretty big.... that's over 3' long. Are you using this for a base station or an HT?

HT. It has a long loading coil, so it's 12 in. Better than the 3.5 in duck that came with the radio. Or so I think, I guess I'll find out once I get my call and can actually use it.

I bought one of these for my scanner yesterday and it does not work any better then the stock antenna on my BC95XLT.
