Anyone know what kind of hand held radios Squad 51 used on the show Emergency!?

I believe they were Motorola HT100's.

I didn't know there was an HT100. I will have to see if I can find the show online and view it to see if I can tell for sure. I was thinking they had like a MT220

I think they were HT200, the HT 100 was a "little thing" (for its day).
GE and RCA also have portables the size of the HT200.

I think these where the original "bricks", as they were slight larger and almost as heavy as a real constriction brick!

The text on this web page jokingly remarks about using an HT200 to chock a railroad car. When I worked for Conrail, it seems that most of the brakemen had a WABCO handheld that resembles the HT200. I heard a story about an industrial crew that was spotting a rail car at a warehouse. The brakie had his WABCO radio in one hand and a piece of two-by-four in the other. The car was about on spot, so he put down what he thought was the two-by to chock the car. Then he put what he thought was the radio up to his face to tell the engineer to stop shoving. Unfortunately, he found himself talking into the two-by. The car crunched the radio and kept on rolling.

OK, got a little better look at one while watching an episode on Hulu.com (great site for old TV shows!). I have to amend my earlier reply. They appear to be either an RCA Personalfone (or one of its variants private labeled for Repco or Federal Signal) or possibly GE Prog Line. Can't really tell for sure, since they carry them in cases. I'm strictly going by the layout of the controls on the top of the radio. I also noted in the same episode, there is a GE MASTR II control head on the dash of the engine and a GE microphone hanging on the dash of the rescue. Yes, I know. They always showed a Mocom head and speaker in the squad. Guess it just depended on what the prop guy had handy that day.

I remember and episode once where they were using the handhelds and had to put the telescopic ant's up. Will have to see if I can find it

OK, here's a picture I found on freqofnature.com. This display is in the LA County Fire Dispatch building. The radio on the right looks like the one on TV, but I can't tell what it is because it's so dark. The one to the left of it is the aforementioned RCA/Repco/Federal Signal radio.

Editing my last post.

According to this site http://www.emergencyfans.com/fun/misc.htm it appears that they used the Motorola HT-200 for the first 3 seasons, and after that they used the HT-220. Weird though because the radios in their apparatus was GE, and the radio at Rampart was GE. Hope that link helps.
