Default Looking for a mobile that can do 46.00+ & 470+

Hi Everyone -

Trying to find a mobile transceiver that can RX HF 46.00-50.00 and UHF 470-480.....and can TX on all the other ham bands. Even if I have to MOD the radio for extended TX or RX, that's fine...prefer a dual band if possible...

Looking at some radios, even with MODS....they seem to stop at UHF 470........Looked at all the Icom mobiles - 7000, 706MK, and they stop short of 470...even looked at the latest Yaesu's and Kenwoods...plus some oversea versions with no luck...maybe I am missing something?

Don't want a receiver.....not looking for that....I was contemplating on an Icom 2500, but that's too much coin, and I think I can get more bang for the buck on a transceiver...

Any suggestions? I am at my wits end............

- Mark

No such animal in current production exists except perhaps the Yaesu FT-8900 quad bander,
or you may have to pick up a used older radio such as a tribander from Kenwood or Standard
but I do not know if you will be able to get them to RX above 470 Mhz. Modifying them for use
to transmit out of band is pretty much illegal and voids the FCC type acceptance.

Standard made the C5900DA 50MHz/144MHz/440MHz Triband mobile Transceiver and
Kenwood made the TM-641/741 or TM-642/742 series with the 6mtr/2mtr/70cm band modules.

An Icom IC-2500A covers 440 and 23cm so that will not help you in your quest.
