Default TM-D700a Discriminator Output problems

I used pin 4 and the ground to the radio to get my discriminator output. It will decode a 800mHZ type II TRS with 98-99% decode, pretty good. However, I'm having problems decoding some other 9600bps data transmissions. It doesn't really decode to well when compared to my BCD996t. Is there some sort of filter I maybe need to put inline? Any advice on how to get a better decode?
