Default Anyone know of an IC-706 Mk2 problem?

Hello, all.....I got into the mobile today and noticed that the IC-706Mk2 was in VFO mode and set to the default 14.200 Mhz setting and all of my memories were blank and apparently erased. This radio has been a workhorse radio for me and never given as much as a bit of problems. I use it for HF mobile through an SGC tuner and a 103" antenna on the back step and VHF-FM via a roof-mounted 1/4 whip. Is this a problem with this series of radios or just a fluke?

Any ideas?

i've never used that radio before but I know Icom likes to have more than one VFO ("A" and "B" usually) Does this radio have more than one? If so, are you looking in the right one?

Is there a memory battery? I don't have a service manual or I'd attempt to replace it. Anyone nkow if this is the case? I thought all the memories were in the form of EEPROMS,

There's a service manual link on rigpix.com, unfortunately it seems you are right, I don't see a battery.

Was mostly guessing.

It works fine otherwise?

If there is a yahoo group Yahoo! Groups - Join or create groups, clubs, forums & communities for the 706, which I bet there is, I'd join and search the archives and files section. If you don't find an answer, just post an email there, I bet other owners have had a similar issue over the years.
