Yaesu VX-177 or FT-277

With the Mars/CAP mod on both these UHF radios, how far does the recieve go? 470.000 the max?

Thanks

Expanding transmit will not expand the receive frequencies. So whatever it could receive before, that's it still.

OK, I should have looked beforehand but it can receive up to 480 MHz. Are you asking if it can TX up there with the mod? I don't know if it can but it's illegal to anyway.

Nope, just trying to confirm it will receive up this high. As this link is the only reference I've seen to this band limit.

Strange, I can't find any specifications for the 277, even on Yaesu's website, but it does exist! According to Universal Radio, the 177 can RX from 420-470.

Exactly! That's what I've been looking all over for.

It's almost like Yaesu pushed and marketed these VHF versions and UHF was back burner, almost like " we have these VX170's and FT270's and oh yea we have them in UHF too.

Antenna farm show 480 as a mod, all other mods I've been online reference the VHF version but say it should work on UHF. but don't show how high the UHF version will go.

I'm 99% sure the VX177 will only goto 470.000, but can't be sure if the FT-277 will go to 479.000 (480).

I just checked my FT-277 and it will tune from 400.0000Mhz- 480.0000Mhz, my radio is not modified to Tx out side of the ham bands, this radio is stock in all respects. Due to being in Central Alberta I have no access to receive any T-band signals so cannot give any info about sensitivity above 470.000Mhz, nor do I have anything below 410.0000Mhz to listen to either. From 420.0000Mhz Up to 470.0000Mhz it does ok tho. Hope this helps.

Oh and the radio actually shows 480.0000Mhz as the last frequency before cycling back to 400.0000Mhz

These radios are not acceptable for CAP transmission use if you are trying to do this mod for that, And of course they won't be type accepted to operate on any frequency outside the amateur radio band.
