Default VX8GR Firmware question.

Has anyone confirmed that the switch in the back of the radio is for firmware updates? And if so has Yaesu announced any updates?

A little Googling turns up information that that switch may, in fact, be for doing firmware updating. I'm not aware that Yaesu has released any firmware updates for the radio, though.

FWIW, I own both a Yaesu VX-8GR and a Kenwood TH-D72, both of which are APRS dual-band handhelds. The firmware on the TH-D72 is user-updatable and Kenwood has released a few firmware updates for the radio since it's been out.
