Default IC-T2H memory retention

Does anyone know for sure if the Icom IC-T2H requires the batteries to be installed (and not dead) for the memories to be retained over time? I want to keep my low self discharge NiMhs in the radio without using it very often but be able to pretty much count on it working when I do need it, but it has been suggested that the radio might constantly draw a small current to maintain the memories, and therefore the charge would not last over a long period of time... I was not told specifically for this radio that it does this but that some handhelds do that.

I don't know about this one but my ic t7h will flatten the battery if you keep it hooked up. i have never had the memory go away and i have it stored for several months now. you should top off the nmhi every thirty days so it will be ready when you need it.

After reading your reply I have decided to keep my full battery pack disconnected from the actual radio and just rubber band them together. Hopefully this will last for a couple of months or more with little self discharge.

Question EPROM

If EPROM memory should be retained for years despite depleted batteries. If have old computer can use software to program and it is a quick download even if memories are lost.

K3CFC, If your battery pack was empty or off since September then that is pretty much conclusive that the memory lasts 'forever" so I think I am pretty safe with my plan to keep the pack disconnected.

Robert, I am not sure of what you are saying.. As far as I know the ICT2H isnt programmable on a computer, just manually, but I am not a computer whiz....
