Default Yaesu vx7 r frequency question?

Hey I'm a newbie to ham 2 way receivers I've only had a wouxen vg3 before now I have this one for some reason any frequency 470.000 or higher comes in verry staticky even with the squeltch almost maxed out any helpful input would be great thanx.

Not enough info here. The antenna you are using, especially if the stock antenna, probably doesn't have the bandwidth to be responsive 20+ MHz higher. (I assume you have reviewed the receiver specs...) HTH.
