question please help

i have a kenwood ts-450s and my alc meter don't work so when i adjust the power and mic gain car gain i am doing it blind i was wondering if there is a external alc meter that i can buy or if there is another way of doing it

For starters, I'd suggest setting your ALC at the one-third level and leave it there.

Otherwise, my understanding is that the 450S can be operated by software, for example HRD. Perhaps a software app shows the ALC level?

Does the meter work for everything else? Just thinking that if it does then there may be something wrong with the alc circuit. Do you get ok signal reports?

the s meter don't work but the swr meter power meter works fine when i am on the air the report i get back is between 55-20 over s9

on the kenwood ts-450s how do i set the alc it is the mic or pwr knobs?
