I am new to his hobby but wow I am amazed at the wealth of information on this forum. I am looking for a UHF radio for my truck. I would like something I can program myself at home. I recently bought a Baofeng handheld and have gotten along nicely with it. What would you guys recommend that would not break the bank? I see some dual band radios such as the LEIXEN LX VV-898 available but at only 10 watts can you talk very far(no repeater)? Anyways, I am interested to hear your opinions.

What license(s) do you have? What frequencies do you intend to use?

The LEIXEN is not much better than the HT in practice so I personally wouldn't waste money on it. You are really looking at buying a dual band radio if you want UHF.

When you say "Truck to Truck", is this for a business where you own multiple trucks, or is this for personal use, just talking to who ever is out there?

The OP has only made 1 post and hasn't logged onto the RR forums since early November. I think it's safe to say that this thread is dead and is not worth of resurrection.
