External Speaker to Aux Input?

Has anyone tried to run their external speaker output to the Aux Input jack of the car stereo for sound instead of installing a separate external speaker?

I was just wondering if it was possible and how it sounded.

You would want to use the LINE OUT jack instead, but that should sound fine.

I used to do that with a Scanner in my old mini Van. (With a Stereo I put in that had Aux input)

It worked well. It was really handy. (My Mobile RIg did not need amplified Speaker but my Hand Hald Scanner sure did)

I plan on replacing the Radio in my 2007 Focus and doing that again soon!
