One more post and I'll drop it but in NC obscene is clearly defined in statue and has been prosecuted successfully by yours truly in a court of law. Now granted I've never charged or prosecuted it as it pertains to radio speech, but I know it can be done. If you don't believe me ask Howard Stern how much he has paid to the FCC while in the open air.

You bring up an excellent point. Part of the reason they could not define what was O & P was something called "Community Standards" Having istened amost daily since '90, I do find certain things VERY distasteful, at that point I change the channel!! But like I mentioned, there are also a large group of nomal VERY bright folk, that I enjoy QSOing with.
Now having a "435" in your neck of the woods, I could see how this would raise the hackles in N.C. Here in L.A. it has been around so long that it's become acceptable. I happen to agree with you. There are couple of the knuckleheads in question, they really should be "Sat Down Hard" but, in reality, they are just blowing hot air....oh well!

Like I mentioned, the FCC goes after "Large Trargets of EASY Opportunity" Howard was a BLIMP compared to the largest 435 pimple on the radar of the FCC.

Nice chattin with you Drafin, I always enjoy a nice QSO!!

I've always suspected that part of the reason .435 was allowed to function more or less unmolested by the FCC is that it serves to draw that sort of operation to a single place, and helps minimize problems on other repeaters. There are always exceptions, of course, but for the most part, these guys go there because it IS accepted, and they apparently are having fun.

I suspect the same holds true with 14275.

I don't listen, and have no use for that repeater or that sort of operation, but I think it really shows that there's something for everyone in ham radio. And I'm all in favor of that. Long live .435!

this is why I am letting my ticket expire. It's not that bad here but it seems there are alot more idiots on than ever before. Most all operators here are ex-CB'ers.

I let mine expire years ago... between the obnoxious nasties, no-code haters, kilocycle cops and getting screwed at hamfests with bad gear, I finally quit.

Went back to the much kinder, gentler world of SWL and restoring old radios.

So, in other words, you're going to let the idiots win.

That'll show 'em!

I don't have any intention on waging any war with "them" So yeah if they have won I don't think I lost much. I have just seem things change alot over the last few years. There are still alot of good guys out there but that is a increasing population of odd balls. I guess it depends what part of the country you are in. Here in my area it is becoming mostly ignorant rednecks migrating from CB to ham. I am just as happy listening. I just ran out of people to talk to that I could have any kind of conversation with.
