I have radio operator plates on my truck, my car and my motorhome.
Same plate, just my call, no extra dashes or numbers.
No problem remembering my plate number!

I just got back from the Tag Agency & decided to get "Amateur Radio" plates. It's an extra $15 a year, as it's considered a personalized plate. It also cost a 1 time fee of $35 to make the plate. The supervisor told me the logo at the bottom of the plate can be AMATEUR RADIO, SUNSHINE STATE, or IN GOD WE TRUST. I chose AMATEUR RADIO.

Just received the tag in the mail today. Just a normal plate with my call sign, & AMATEUR RADIO on the bottom. They even centered the call sign on the tag. The gal at the tag agency wasn't sure they'd be able to. My dad's Quebec tag looks stupid. It says VE2 QL. A big space between the 2 & the Q. Stupid Pepsi's.

Cool well I guess that's a NEW THING. Because I lived in that state for many years and never saw one that says "Amateur radio" on it, and I know you haven't either.

What state? I've seen them in Florida.

I thought the VT tags were cool and $15 one time fee (not yearly) so I got them (ordered at least). I will probably update my mailing address to somewhere obscure, no where near where I live when I put them on.

If I think about it tomorrow, I'll post a picture of a FL plate with the amateur radio at the bottom.
And, in FL with any plate you can get the "In God We Trust, The Sunshine State, or 'your county'" at the bottom, your choice. (or amateur radio in our case here)

That definitely confirms it although I still maintain the "amateur radio" at the embossed at the bottom is a new thing.

Gary,

I don't know if they still do this, but in Connecticut they used to put a lightning bolt between the number and the following letters on ham plates. Really looked dumb, I always thought.

Regards,

Tom, W2NJS

It may very well be. Like I said in the post, mines only 8 months or so old, so I have no idea myself
