FCC Narrow banding

Being a new tech, I was wondering if the FCC narrow banding implementation has any affect on the ham bands.

No, other than old non-narrowband capable radio equipment becoming available in the second hand market.

No and in addition to the reply above, newer commercial gear is going to be narrowband only. This means if you want to buy a commercial radio and use it on the ham bands, it's only going to do narrowband and chances are all the ham repeaters are wideband. Originally I thought this wouldn't become a problem for many years down the road, but they're already rolling off the line like this and some radios that currently do wideband analog (like the Motorola XPR 6550) will cease to do analog if you update to the latest firmware. I heard that Kenwood at least had the forethought to make an exception for the Ham Band so that those frequencies can be programmed wide.
