Some security SHF equipment on 10 and 24GHz being of any use?

I have been given a decommissioned perimeter security device operating in SHF - 10.525GHz and 24.125GHz. When I looked up local frequency allocation charts I found that these frequencies are actually also for ham use.

Is here anyone who would be able to say, if this could be modified for ham use in any way? I do not have very much knowledge when it comes to higher frequencies but the 'radios' are inside very sexy and pretty simple looking if you ask me.

One thing that I don't want to do is to use them for any kind of security, as that's not why I have been given it for.

I will try to put up some photographs up here very soon, depends if I get good enough light at this very hour.

Do search for gunnplexer. There are projects that you should to put them to use in.

The 10.525 GHz frequency is outside the ham band of 10.0 to 10.5 GHz.

To use it for ham radio purposes you'll need to retune that thing. But that said, it is usually pretty easy to modulate these things with wide band FM by impressing the voltage on the Gunn Diode supply.

Before you bother, ask around your area and see if there is any WFM activity on 10 and 24 GHz. There's nothing more frustrating than building or modifying a piece of equipment, only to find that there's no one to talk to.
